Actuality Systems updates software for 3-D display

The June 8, 2004 issue of PC Magazine reports that Actuality Systems has updated the software for its 3-D Perspecta volumetric display that mimics a hologram effect by rapidly spinning a plastic disc inside a 20" glass dome. The projector uses a Texas Instruments micromirror DLP Display Engine. The article notes that the display has medical, air traffic control, and oil exploration applications, but costs $40,000.
