News: NYT interview with "Fable" creator
The New York Times has an interesting interview with Peter Molyneux, the brain behind the upcoming 3D game Fable for the Xbox (created by Lionhead and Big Box Studios). He is "widely considered one of the best high-concept designers in the videogame industry" and well known for creating "god games" like Populous (1989) and Black and White (released in 2001, more than 2 million copies sold). Says the NYT: "Three years in development, Fable is a role-playing game in which the player guides a boy as he becomes a hero, meets villagers and fights monsters on the way to saving the land of Albion. Such an adventure is familiar fare in games, though, so Mr. Molyneux directed an 80-member development team to emphasize not what players do but how they do it, the kind of character their choices produce, and how the world reacts."
