The future of 3D military simulators

Computerworld has taken a look at the graphics-intensive simulation tools used by urban warfare planners in the U.S. military. The article says troops on the ground are already using PC-driven simulator applications to plan convoys and urban operations.

More interesting are some of the article's predictions for the future. Computerworld says major advances in PC graphics cards and software will soon result in a new crop of military simulators that not only look more realistic, but also allow for simulated enemies that behave more intelligently. Additionally, simulation technology will begin to bleed into many aspects of everyday life, and be widely accessible on PDAs, cellphones, and the Web.
