Is Santa Real?

A scene in the car this evening:

Daughter: Is Santa real?

A long pause.

Me: Yes

Daughter: Then why do we never see him?

I thought I had a few years before I started hearing questions like this.

    "Well, he only comes once per year when he comes down the chimney." Then it turned into a discussion about what he is doing the rest of the time. She asked whether or not he sleeps as well.
